We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Early Childcare Assistant (ECA) Instructor to join our team and deliver the ECA diploma program.
Job Summary:
As an ECA Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in line with the ECA curriculum. You will help prepare students to support the learning and development of children in early years settings through both theoretical instruction and hands-on learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver classroom and/or online instruction according to the approved ECA curriculum.
- Teach key topics such as child development, health and safety, guidance techniques, and communication skills.
- Facilitate practical training and ensure students are prepared for field placements in childcare environments.
- Prepare lesson plans, course materials, and assessments aligned with curriculum goals.
- Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback and support.
- Promote positive, respectful classroom environments that reflect inclusive practices.
- Stay current with trends and regulations in early childhood education.
- Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development, and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field.
- Must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a licensed childcare or early learning environment.
- Prior teaching or training experience, especially with adult learners, is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of child development theories, pedagogy, and early learning frameworks.
Preferred Assets:
- Experience teaching the ECA curriculum at a private career college.
- Familiarity with Ontario’s Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) and How Does Learning Happen? Frameworks.
- Proficiency with virtual teaching tools and learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, Google Classroom).
- CPR and First Aid Certification (current).
